      From "Salcombe Harbour remembered" pg.28 "Fisherman's Cove, formerly Stony Cove or Higher Passage Way, was the landing place for the flat-bottomed horse and cattle ferry. Doctor Vincent Twining and his coachman "Doctor" Jimmy Putt, with his pony and trap, used this ferry to cross the harbour to visit patients at Portlemouth."
