Civilian War Casualties

Anna Alexander,aged 3 yrs. Died March 30th 1943.

Anna Alexander, daughter of Signalman Dennis Harry Arthur Alexander of the Royal Corps of Signals and wife Mrs D E Alexander. Anna died at Fort Charles 30th March 1943 aged 3. Anna was evacuated from Wandsworth, London the previous Summer. Because Anna was from London,and the South Hams had just been declared a "regulated area" with strictly-enforced restrictions on the entrance of new residents, Mr and Mrs Alexander were the only family mourners. Anna's two young sisters, Honor aged 2 and four month old Denise, escaped with only slight injuries.
