  • —2010: The Town Twinning association with Cabourg was wound up.
1850 
  • 1850: North Sands sea wall built c1850.
1854 
  • 1854: The Infant School was built at Courtenay Street which may have been known as Channel Street in 1854.
  • 1854—1976: The Infants School was closed.
1859 
  • 1859: Rookery
    A rookery opposite the church was cut down.
1869 
  • 1869: Lifeboat
    Salcombe's first lifeboat arrived
1871 
  • 1871: Baptist Church was opened.
1875 
  • 1875: Salcombe Girls School built
1877 
  • 1877: Shadycombe Cemetery was opened. When it eventually closed a site at Bonfires Hill was purchased for Burials.
1893 
  • 1893: South Devon Land Company began to auction building plots. The plots varied in price from £20 to £60,
10 1895 
  • 4 Jul 1895: The Waterworks were opened.
11 1911 
  • 1911: Commander S. W. Ryder bought the ferry rights. The ferry was operated by Jim Canham until he was drowned when the Salcombe lifeboat William and Emma capsized near the Bar.
12 1914 
  • 1914—1918: World War I
13 1916 
  • 27 Oct 1916: Salcombe Lifeboat Disaster
14 1925 
  • 1925: Lifeboat House
    The lifeboat house at South Sands was closed. The Lifeboat House was erected 1877/8
15 1930 
  • 1930: Salcombe Swimming Club formed
16 1939 
  • 1939—1945: World War II
